When you spoke of anguish, you separated the physical from the mental....why? Is not all anguish entirely mental, even that which is considered physical. Although the physical anguish is thought to be caused by an attack or injury to the body, the anguish is only felt in the mental sphere. So there is no physical anguish, only mental.
It is interesting that Nietzsche compares Jesus and the Buddha or Christianity and Buddhism to each other in the fifth book many times. He claims that these two men were able to begin a new religion because of their "psychologically infallible in his knowledge of a certain average breed of souls who have not yet recognized one another as allies." Although it seems to me that Nietzsche was not a real fan of religion, this idea of Jesus and the Buddha bring people together one which contains a attribute of elegance. That these two men were not necessarily attempting to create religions, but were looking to unite people under a certain blanket of ideals. Maybe I'm blinded by my own personal bias, but the idea that these two men were simply looking to bring people together for the benefit of them all is one that puts a smile on my face.
