Holmes law

The one quote from the reading that really stuck out was "if a man neglects to enforce his rights, he cannot complain if, fter a while, the law follows his example." This may seem obvious, but that is the purpose of the law, to enforce the rights of the citizens of a state. So in a way i disagree with this quote, because despite if one stops fighting for their own rights, the law should still seek to enforce them. A better quote would be to say "when the law stops enforcing the rights of man, then the law should be changed or done away with because it stops serving its purpose." The law was made for its citizens, not the other way around.

  1. You quotation is of Holmes characterizing a view with which he does not agree.
