Philosophy is versatile. It can be applied to individual and group thought. It can also be applied to individual thought about group thought or individual thought about another individuals thought. There is an endless amount of ways one can apply thought about thought in an endless variety of contexts. A lot of the time it pays off to think and evaluate your thoughts and ideas. Other times quick decisions are key. Philosophy can pick you up and let you down and take you in a circle, making you chase your own tail around like a retarded dog. Philosophy will make you see things in ways you may not like. The opposite is also true. Most people are content within their little comfort bubble of ignorance. Not me. I don’t like it. It puts me in a bad mood sometimes. Other times it distracts me from thinking about things that society forces me to think about. At the same time this distraction is what has attracted me to philosophy. The way that it pulls me from the normal reality of being human is what I like. But, like anything else, with the good comes the bad. I have to write three 10 page papers this week proving that I can philosophize. The obligation society has put on me in the name of philosophy is bullshit. If anything, philosophy will teach you that words are an insufficient means to connect with reality. The only way to really connect with reality is by living, experiencing, and enjoying it. This is the true form of philosophy.
