"The existing generation is master both of the training and the entire circumstances of the generation to come; it cannot indeed make them perfectly wise and good, because it is itself so lamentably deficient in goodness and wisdom; and its best efforts are not always, in individual cases, its most successful ones; but it is perfectly well able to make the rising generation, as a whole, as good as, and a little better than, itself" (85) Society right now decides the future for those on the way and growing up. How we raise them and "train" them to act is important for our society to succeed. We must strive to make them knowledgeable or all that we can. If we do not step up and lead those who follow us and look up to us, who will? How far do we have to go till we feel safe that they know all that they need to, to succeed?
