Zee last blog...
What stuck out to me in reading is the discussion of the inter-philosophical feud described as conversations ending in arguments. This is an interesting and sad concept to be seen within the realm of philosophy. One of the most crucial intellectual traits is that of intellectual humility which is having the humility of thought to take into account the objections and evidence set again your own theories, and when compelled by the evidence, drop the theory as a loss. It is important within philosophy to be able to have a mature discussion with individuals participating refuse to succumb to the urge to become emotionally attached to their theory or opinion. If one is to learn and grow as a philosopher, it is essential to believe a theory or opinion because the evidence supports such a belief and not because the person you are arguing with really pisses you off. The killer of philosophical thought is stubbornness of thought!
